This has been a hard decision for me, but trying to regularly keep up with this blog as I prepare to leave home for college in a few months has frazzled me more than I had hoped. I am going to be taking a break from my blog and Instagram, and spend a little more time with myself, my friends, family, and members of my communities. Social media can be wonderful, but sometimes it can just get a little overwhelming. I am trying to accept that as a human being, I am not bound to anything. I am eighteen. I am young. I have a whole life to live. But, I need to actually make sure that I am living that life, and not spending time worrying about things that aren't fulfilling me in the way that I need to be fulfilled at this time. Although I will continue to shop at One World Market, (hopefully) model some for Mamafrica and Symbology, and post occasionally, I am saying goodbye for now. I will keep you updated on my future adventures- As of now, it looks like come August I will be heading to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Oglethorpe University. I am excited for my future, but terrified at the same time. I hope that my absence will not be a disappointment of any sort, but that you can help me celebrate this exciting transition in life!

Calling all Durhamites- Free Fair-Trade Chocolate tasting at One World Market this Saturday!
Today one of my amazing friends, One World Market's executive director, April Ravelli appeared on the BIG (local) screen to talk about the importance of Fair Trade chocolate in light of One World Market's annual FREE chocolate tasting!
April took some of her favorite chocolate bars along to share with the newscasters. They were definitely a fan of the Fair Trade chocolate!
Check out the interview right here!
Isn't April such a doll? She is my inspiration to be a Fair Trade Warrior! (love ya girl!)
Make sure to come to One World Market THIS Saturday February 8th from 12:00pm-6:00pm!
See you Saturday!

Mamafrica 2014 Photoshoot!
I had a blast shooting some new items from the Democratic Republic of Congo with my dear friend, Ashley, yesterday! She runs an amazing non-profit that provides "ealing arts programs, education and economic opportunity for
women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to foster self-empowerment,
community and sustainability, ultimately resulting in generational
CHANGE." Mamafrica is determined to fulfill these goals by creating a unique
holistic approach to change! Below are some photos from yesterday's shoot. Go to Mamafrica Designs to check out these amazing items supporting amazing Congolese women!

i've been slacking.
The past few months have been pretty CRAZY with getting
things together for Christmas, the New Year, and now classes starting
again! I have been thinking about ideas for upcoming posts, but would love for any of my readers to email me or comment suggestions for things you guys
would like to see on the blog!
A few quick updates on the college piece- I have been accepted into 9 universities so far! I am waiting to hear back from my three reaches: Trinity College, Emory University and UNC-Chapel Hill. I definitely do NOT recommend that any other senior EVER apply to so many colleges OR so many scholar programs and honors colleges ever again. This semester was the most stressful and nerve-wracking time of my life, but I am proud of all of the work I accomplished! I made it through finals, and ended up with A's in all of my courses, despite the weight of college apps. Luckily, break was more relaxing, and I was able to spend a lot of time volunteering at One World Market! We not only had a great December, but a great 2013 overall! One of the many things I love about volunteering at One World Market is seeing so many members of my community supporting Fair Trade! It is AWESOME to see fellow Durhamites doing all of their Christmas shopping there!
This year I decided to "Fair Trade" my Christmas as much as possible. I only gave Fair Trade, ethical and homemade gifts to my friends and family! It was actually much easier than I expected, and everyone was very happy with their gifts.
One of my New Year resolutions is to post every TWO weeks (or more often!) Feel free to hold me to it, if I haven't posted in a few weeks, because I tend to get distracted and completely forget about my resolutions by the end of January.... But not this year!
The more I learn about new Fair Trade companies (specifically fashion ones), the more I learn about other amazing do-good companies! Today's outfit includes shoes from Swedish Hasbeens, an ethical footwear company that I just recently discovered. Click here to learn more about these super fab and sustainable shoes!
Below is an outfit of my favorite BLUE Fair Trade items!
